The worst thing that can happen to a man is to marry a wife who doesn't fear God, anything can happen.
The Police in Asaba, Delta state have arrested a housewife identified as Mrs. Nkechi and a cook to the family, Bassey Okon, for allegedly attempting to kill him through food poisoning.
Police PRO in the state, Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the cook and the man's wife, said that the suspects were arrested on Wednesday in Asaba, at the residence of their target, a retired Head of Service along Abraka-Asaba road on a tip off by police detectives.
The wife allegedly contracted the cook to kill the husband and had given him N35,000 as part of payment in the deal of N100,000, to pay the balance once her husband is dead. Just imagine a wife!
It was further gathered that while the cook was set out on a fateful day to carry out the assigment, nemesis caught up with him when he waited till everybody else had left home for one activity or the other to carry out the crime, unknown to him that one of the man's son was upstairs and was watching him as he prepared the meal he was expected to serve their father.
The cook however served his target the food he allegedly prepared with poisons. Luckily for his life, the ex-head of service refused to eat the meal and asked that another type of food be prepared.
But determined to accomplish his evil mission because of N100,000, the cook was said to have reached for one of the stools in the house and allegedly hit the man on his forehead.
The son rushed out, hence he could not kill the man before an alarm was raised that lead to his arrest.
The cook confessed at the police station that it was madam that sent him. Both will be arraigned soon.
