Presidency Reacts to 2face-Led Planned Nationwide Protest

The presidency has reacted to the February 5th proposed Nationwide protest which 2face Idibia and other celebrities have come out to support.

Speaking in an interview in Lagos, President Buhari's Media Assistant, Femi Adesina, said:

"This is a country of about 180 million people. It is impossible for 180 million people to think the same way. Yoruba has a saying that if you all sleep and put your head in the same direction, then you are all foolish because you would be breathing in one another's mouth and lungs.
Don't forget the last election and how it went. Somebody scored 12.5 million votes, another scored about 15 million votes. There are some people who are still in that election mode. They have not gotten out of it and till today, they are still living and "rheumatisizing" about the past. What they don't know is that that past is gone and gone forever.
Majority of those calling for the protest are still in election mode. Majority of them are people that have resolved not to see anything good in this administration simply because the man they wanted lost at the polls."

  6. As far as it was peaceful Let them protest. It's a means to tell the government to live up with its expectations.

  7. This man is just contradicting himself. I don't see anything wrong in a peaceful protest. Like he said, not everyone will support your decision so he should just chill.

  10. Femi Adesina has been blinded by the pecks of office at the presidency. His mind has continued to deceive him. He believes that only Aso rock beneficiaries own Nigeria. How can he be bringing the issue of election to confuse a genuine protest being organised by patriotic Nigerians. Let him know that he was a common man until he was called to eat at the high table. If this recession has not given him reasons to wear human face, I wonder if devil has got another name.

  13. Oga Femi! You need to leave aso rock for just one week and witness the way people are suffering. Most of us voted for our president because we love him and we still do.But the hardship is Just too much for people to bear especially youths. Many youths have started involving themselves in illegal business because they must survive. Mr President, with due respect sir, all we ask is for you to return all these to the way they were'I mean the way former president left it'. I support a peaceful protest! I support 2baba!

  14. It is though when I atimes listen to how people react to change as professed by this administration and it also funny to hear people say the head of the present administration is the cause of the economy woes in Nigeria today. What is the funniest thing is that those that are supposed to know the truth are hiding under tribal hatred while others are educated illitrates who cannot simplify what an economy is in a country vis a vis the globe. Change begins with you- the okro seller who says it is dollar that caused the high price of okro, change begins with you palmwine seller claiming is dollar that cause the high in price, change begin with you vegetable, egusi, and other local products claiming is dollar's fault. Change begins with you who are so idle and only look for politicians money from Abuja, change begins with you who want to protest now while the economy had been bastardise by some elements in the past for not saving and for squandering the little saved. Okonjo Iweala in 2014 said Nigeria should prepare for a harder days ahead can some of these organisers tell me what that statement meant? Peter Obi said of recent that they all refused to save when it matters most can you decode that statement? Everyone has right to water thing he wants to do in Nigeria provided is not criminal act but some acts are not criminal but those indulging in them are nothing but senseless elements who prefers pretence over reality. The past administration failed everybody and for 16 years that has been but today barely two years they wanted a magic to occur over night. Anyway simple reason I can say is no more prado as gift, no more sponsored musical tours etc which was part of what blown the savings of this country away and today they wanted to protest over what they were part of.Get inside your study and examine the state of Nigeria economy from 1999 to 2015 before your organise and join the protest. To the haters of Buhari from a known ethnic group who had never see anything wrong in destroying the economy of country ride on.

  16. THOSE WHO BLAME BUHARI FOR THE CURRENT HARDSHIP DO SO EITHER OUT OF MISCHIEF (HATRED) OR IGNORANCE :
Obasanjo's administration earned #17trn from crude oil sales within eight years and left behind 45bn dollars external reserves and 3.348bn dollars external debt.
Yaradua grew the reserves to 64bn dollars within just one year and the administration was able to finance 15 months of imports despite the 2008/2009 world economic meltdown. Hence, Nigeria survived the melt down because of the political will by the administration to save(a great achievement by Yaradua which most Nigerians are not aware of). Despite the tough economic reality at that time, Yaradua left 47.7bn dollars in reserves and an external debt of 3.94bn dollars. Meanwhile, the administration earned only #9trn from crude oil sales within that short period.
Now, Jonathan administration witnessed an oil boom when Brent crude sold for over 100 dollars/barrel, with the regime earning #51trn within a period of 5years. But because of corruption, the administration did not only squander the oil revenue but even depleted the reserves left by Yaradua, leaving just 32bn dollars and a huge external debt of 63bn dollars for Buhari. The same Brent crude sold for as low as 35 dollars/barrel at a point shortly after Buhari took over power and had only managed to climb to about 48 dollars just recently.
These are facts that can be verified. So, it's amazing hearing people criticize Buhari for the hunger in the land.
According to Fashola, Buhari's administration inherited 206 uncompleted road projects and contract arrears worth #2.1trn from Jonathan; and for about 2 to 3 years the contractors where not paid. This slowed down the economic activities, with most of the companies laying off their staff. This was when the seed of recession was sowed.
It's obvious that Buhari came in to rescue Nigeria, because if Jonathan had continued in power, the nation's economic crisis would have been worse, perhaps even the Federal government wouldn't have been able to pay salaries of civil servants by now.
According to Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria started borrowing money to pay salaries since October, 2014; but today Nigeria now borrow money for investment in capital projects.
Those who blame Buhari for the current hardship do so either out of mischief (hatred) or ignorance. So, we shouldn't join the bandwagon in criticising him. He may not have done much to save the situation, considering that he is not a perfect human being but he means well for the country and can only succeed with our prayers.

Always true that whenever a child is hungry he or she goes to his father to ask for food, the govt president MB Is the father to all Nigeria children therefore it's our right to ask the president to provide food.....,how did you explain a situation when minimum wage is 18 and 1litre of kerosene is N300,a bag of rice is 20,000 school feel we are tire ,we gave he enough time to fix it even though he claimed he is not the cause of which I know that every bad economy started from his administration.Mr president we are tire of focus less govt like this
