UPDATE: INEC Website Hacked, Governor Amaechi Stops Voting in Rivers

A group known as Nigerian Cyber Army has successfully hacked the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, causing fears among Nigerians. If INEC website can be so cheaply hacked on election day, what is the hope of the result being credible?

Thus far, there are many issues affecting the election. It appears most NYSC members working for INEC at polling units are not removing the protective film on the Card Readers, which is making the card readers not to read many of the cards. INEC officials should be told by voters to remove the film and everything will work fine.

In Rivers State, Governor Rotimi Amaechi was said to have ordered voting to stop in Ikwerre Local Government area where it is suspected that some corrupt INEC staff have handed over all the result sheets to the PDP.

Amaechi is complaining bitterly that the INEC commissioner that was first sent to Rivers State was chanaged on orders from above within few days and a woman from Bayelsa State was used to replace him as Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC.

Governor Amaechi said all indications point to the fact that the Bayelsa woman was sent to Rivers State to make sure President Goodluck Jonathan wins the election at all cost.

INEC headquarters is yet to state why the result sheets in Amaechi's LGA are missing.
