Capt Aminu was speaking after his men rescued Pastor Femi Emmanuel of Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel who was kidnapped by armed men.
He spent the days in the den of the kidnappers before he was rescued.
The pastor of the new generation church was said to have been kidnapped by a four man gang, while returning from an official duty at his church. The suspects blocked him and took him to an unknown place.
Aminu said that his men at Umuikaa junction checkpoint along the Port Harcourt-Enugu expressway got information about the kidnap and started intelligence gathering on how to rescue him.
The Abia naval boss said that the pastor was rescued when his men got enough information about the movement of the kidnappers with their victim and closed in on them which made them to run away leaving their victim behind.
He said, “When we got there (a church) we saw him in good health and no injuries and when we asked him what happened he said that the kidnappers who were around ran away when they saw the fire power of our men.
“It is interesting to know that after the pastor was kidnapped his abductors demanded N15 million before he could released but we are happy to tell you that his family did not pay a dime and he was rescued in good health”.
The Navy Captain warned parents and adults to always be vigilant at all times and report to the nearest police post or the navy of any suspicious movement of people especially those who just moved in without any means of livelihood.
Aminu noted that the internal security of the state and country is the duty of the police, “We have been collaborating with them in the state to ensure that adequate security is provided, we have handed over the suspects to the police for further investigations.”
The naval boss warned criminals operating within the area in particular and the state in general to relocate as the navy will spare nothing to ensure that the state is made very uncomfortable for them to operate.
Pastor Emanuel thanked God and men of the Nigerian Navy at Owerrinta for their efforts in rescuing him in record time. He confirmed that he was returning to the church when he was blocked by the kidnappers who took him away and demanded for N15 million from his family if they want to see him again.
