When the Senators who met behind closed doors earlier today, some of them were incensed by the trial of the leadership of the Senate for forgery.
Shortly after plenary, some Senators called on their colleagues, led by Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (APC Kaduna North) and Kabir Marafa (APC Zamfara Central) to sheathe their sword and withdraw the petition that had led to the criminal prosecution of Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu.
The Executive Session, which was chaired by Saraki, told reminded the Senate that a committee led former Senate President David Mark had been set up to “reconcile” members.
Funny enough, Mark stood and said he was not informed that he chairs such a committee and that he didn’t know any members. He was simply told to do his “work”.
Shortly after that, Senator Dino Melaye (APC Kogi West) said in his remarks that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, must be brought before the Senate to be thoroughly grilled and humiliated for charging the Senate leadership with forgery in court.
Dino Melaye called on the Senators in attendance to fight the presidency to a standstill. In his rant, he issued a wide variety of threats.

When recognized to speak, Senator Remi Tinubu (APC) Lagos Central said the Senate should not be reduced to a kindergarten where Senators could just issue childish threats, and called on Senators to close ranks and seek reconciliation amongst its members.
That was when Melaye flew into rage, calling her names. Dino threatened Tinubu's wife: “I will beat you up on this floor and nothing will happen.”
Dino's reckless statement caused commotion as Senators gathered to protect her. Saraki nodded as he called Mrs. Tinubu unprintable names according to Senators who intervened to stop the noise-making Dino.
According to SR, a source revealed that there had been a series of meetings at the home of Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC, Sokoto) to plot a total onslaught on President Buhari in the coming days.
In addition, the Senators behind the forgery trial were threatened by the like-minded Senators, with the same Dino threatening to kill anyone who shows up in court to testify against Saraki and Ekweremadu.

I think it is time Nigerians stand up and get back our country from these irredeemable touts that are occupying the Senate chamber! What a sad day in the history of this nation!

For you information, if you try your threat of beating up the first lady of APC, something will definitely happen to you. The mildest thing that could happen to you is life imprisonment. Do not think as a Senator, you are above the law. To be fore warned is to forearmed. Lagosians are waiting for you to act.

ReplyDeleteThis is a disgrace to Nigerian democracy Senators should realise they are not above the law, I think it's high time the masses should be enlightened about the constitutional power to recall or remove senators so that the likes of Dino would not be seen in the upper chamber. There is no space for thuggery in our politics. He should be prosecuted for tretening to kill which is a crime. AGF should take action on that.
