Is This Right? Olajumoke A Bread Seller is Praised but Ayodele who scored 5.0 in UNILAG is Ignored

Any society that promotes frivolities above mental capacity will remain in the back waters of life...

As we celebrate the "beauty" that TY Bello discovered in Olajumoke the bread seller, it is wrong for the same set of people (we Nigerians) to ignore a young man who just achieved what millions of graduate had failed to achieve. By doing so, we tell our youth that education is nonsense. Is this right?

POVERTY MENTALITY by OAP Freeze
When are Nigerians going to celebrate real achievements? On the left is Mr. Ayodele Daniel Dada the first Nigerian to finish university with a perfect CGPA of 5.0 and on the left is Mrs. Olajumoke Orisaguna a 'former' bread seller.

Before Ayodele, no one had 'EVER' finished with a perfect CGPA in UNILAG!!! Since it was established in 1962, he made history by becoming the first to achieve such a commendable feat!

Now, so many questions come to mind. How come my dear friend Kunbi of 'April with Kunbi' hasn't styled him or recommended him for styling? How come CNN hasn't done a story on him? How come his life isn't documented on blogs daily? How come he isn't a brand ambassador for any product? The questions are ceaseless.

Ciara put up a post of an equally beautiful traffic hawker selling some type of fruit yesterday and she was described, in Ciara's own words as 'beautiful and talented'. If these two 'hawker beauties' were discovered less than 2 months apart, it means that beautiful girls that hawk commodities aren't in short supply in Lagos. While people who finish with a 5.0 CGPA are almost non existent! It took 54 years to produce the first one!

While Olajumoke and this other lady are rough stones that could be polished to achieve a lustrous shine, Ayodele is a true jewel, a rare yellow diamond in its truest and purest form. Let's not let our 'poverty mentality', that makes things of lesser importance seem valuable, cloud our judgement.

I have no objection to polishing stones to bring out their shine, but please let's not do it at the expense of gems of inestimable value! The outcome of our future depends largely on 'what' or 'whom' we invest in. If Japan, Switzerland or America invested their time and money in pretty bread sellers, we won't have the brains behind their automotive, aeronautic, horological or financial achievements today. I'm not saying we shouldn't celebrate Olajumoke o! Before people call me a hater.

But like hell we must celebrate Ayodele first!

  4. Definitely, God picked Olajumoke's call before Ayodele. Nevertheless, both are celebrated in a unique way...

  5. It's just the sad realities of today. Nigerians see material success as the Ultimate in life. How else could U wonder why socalld 'men of God' are feeding fat from the gullibility of many who wants. Quick success?

  8. Well, olajumoke apart now, generally Nigeria doesn't praise intelligence and academic excellence and its annoying. Promoting frivolous social activities over intelligence. #sighs.

  12. Well freez is right. But things have changed not many people rely on certificate. It's all about connection

  13. Honestly I feel that way, there must be some balancing. While I'm so happy for Olajumoke the face remains that every investment on her benefits only her and the organizations she models for. However, investments on.the likes of Ayodele will benefit the country at large in area of adding value.

  15. Olajumoke is praised because she was caught physically with her hardworking skills which everybody can confirm, unlike the 5.0 scorer which we couldn't tell if he did wuruwuru or not, who was there during his year one in school? Year two three or four? Its only the result we noticed, so the two shouldn't be compared at all, freeZe should go and seek his gold watch

  22. Well, my guy that is the reality of our day. Which school did Dangote, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates.... Attend? But today they can afford to employ the likes of Ayodele as many as they want. 90% of the celebrities world wide which school did they go??? Just the fact of our generation not a Nigeria only thing ...

  23. Ayodele too can go far in life with his result, the present Governor of Kaduna state Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, came out with first class today is a governor, our present Minister of state for Petroleum I've Ukwachukwu was equally a first class, the story line of each & all of us in life cannot be same, Olajumoke was destined to come to lime light through the bread selling, Ayodele might be known world wide in the nearest future. Though it seems priority is not given much to academic this days, if you watch Cowbell mathematics quiz , you will be amaze by by the performance of young chap but the prize that follow their performance cannot stand shoulder to shoulder with Multinal dance all prize.

  24. The story of Olajumoke is a unique one that is rare. The man with 5.0 CGPA is a genius. He worked for it and got it. Olajumoke got herself in a new status that someone of her status or background can never attain.

  25. Mitcheeeew, such trash can only happen Nigeria. And we celebrate political thieves more, and what a country?

  26. The graduate is assured of a good life based on his result, but if he wants to make news he should take his degree and go hawk some bread and enjoy jumokes life and status before God's mercy and grace spoke for her, then we will recognise his feat.

  27. Different stroke for different forks, while olajumoke was appreciated by her forks in the show biz it is the duty of the Educational sectors to do same to the guy they are two different people and you don't expect TY Bello a show biz personality to be patronilizing academicial,u shall be doing better by directing your plight to the right channels and not condemning one's greatness.

  28. Mr. Ayodele has written his name on gold. Even if the media did not celebrate him today, he will forever be remembered for breaking a myth. Olajumoke found herself in a profession that requires media attention and that is what she has gotten.

  29. Nigerian Education is not yielding fruit in Nigeria that is why is not valued, we have many professors still we cant produce pencil, first class every where no job.

Why criticising other peoples' interest? Another man's meat is another man's poison... Our interests differ with choices. If you think Ayodele needs being celebrated, sure u can in your own way.
