Former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has reacted to the former defence minister, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, who called for his arrest over his inflammatory statements at a time Nigeria needs peace ahead of the 2015 general elections.
In his response, Tompolo reiterated his recent declaration that President Goodluck Jonathan must win in the February 14 presidential election for Nigeria to continue to stay united.
He also lashed out at Danjuma for calling for his arrest, asking where the general was when Mallam Ciroma Adamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari and the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi made inciting statements to make Nigeria ungovernable.
He also wondered why Jonathan’s convoy was stoned in Katsina and Bauchi states while Buhari enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere when he campaigned in the Niger Delta states.
Tompolo, in a statement signed by his media adviser, Comrade Paul Bebenimibo, condemned “the call by Gen. T. Y. Danjuma (rtd) to arrest me and other agitators for a better living for the people of the Niger Delta region.
“Is Gen. Danjuma not aware of the peaceful atmosphere when Gen. Buhari visited Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa states for campaign? Why is it that President Jonathan’s convoy was attacked in Katsina and Bauchi states without any provocation?"

Tompolo declared: “General Danjuma and his cohorts should know that I remain resolute on my position in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that President Goodluck Jonathan must win this election for Nigeria to continue to stay together.”
