IMAGE No Turning Back Movie (Amaka & Adeleke) — Episode 1

In the heart of Lagos, where chaos dances with dreams, lies a quiet compound of six flats. Ordinary to the eye observing from across the street… but extraordinary for two souls who refuse to bow to compromise — Amaka and Adeleke.

Episode title:
THE RIGHT THING
Written by Olu Famous

The story begins...

FADE IN:

EXT. LAGOS STREET – EARLY MORNING
(Early morning bustle — distant car horns, chirping birds, bus conductors yelling, soft breeze)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Drone shot glides over a bustling street, zooms into a peaceful walled compound nestled in the middle of a busy neighborhood.

INT. COMPOUND – MORNING
(Water splashing from buckets, children laughing and running, distant gospel music from a neighbor’s radio)

OFFSCREEN VOICE – MRS. JIBOLA (shouting):
Jide!!! How many times did I call you? Oya stop that noise and drop my bucket quick quick before I flog you this morning!

CAMERA DIRECTION:
The camera pans across the compound, catching lively activity. It settles on Amaka as she steps out of her flat.

Amaka, radiant in a modest black skirt suit and white lawyer’s blouse, greets her neighbor.

CAMERA ANGLE: Medium shot on Amaka, then over-the-shoulder as she turns to Mama Peace.

AMAKA (smiling):
Good morning, Mama Peace. I hope you slept well?

MAMA PEACE (50s, sharp-tongued):
Yes o, I slept well, my dear Judge. God bless you. Ehn hen, come here my sister. Did you know that some people in this our compound are saying that it is odd for a grown-up lady like you to still be single? But I say to them — it is better to be single than be sorry.

AMAKA (still smiling, softly):
Thank you, ma. I believe in God’s timing.

EXT. ANOTHER SIDE OF THE COMPOUND – CONTINUOUS
(Polishing brush scrubbing, children’s giggles)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Cut to Adeleke, sitting outside his door, polishing his police boots with focus and pride.

Children watch him with admiration.

CHILD 1:
Good morning, Uncle Adeleke. Will you arrest any of the area boys today?

ADELEKE (grinning, looks up):
Only if they misbehave. And you too, children — make sure you all don’t cause trouble, so we can continue being friends.

CAMERA ANGLE:
Overhead angle as he stands, casting a strong figure — calm but commanding.

NARRATION V.O.:
Two different people — Amaka and Adeleke. Two convictions. No compromise. But many eyes were watching — some in admiration, others in suspicion.

INT. GENUINE BELIEVERS MINISTRY – SUNDAY MORNING
(Congregational worship — clapping, singing, organ music)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Wide shot of the church auditorium — people in worship.
Zoom in to Pastor Olu passionately preaching from the pulpit.

PASTOR OLU (animated):
We need people like Daniel in our society today. Why? Because there is temptation everywhere. We need men and women, boys and girls who won’t bow, who won’t bend and who won’t break!

CAMERA ANGLE:
Steady cam moves through the congregation to find Amaka and Adeleke sitting separately, heads bowed, writing notes earnestly.

NARRATION V.O.:
They weren’t just upright in public — Amaka, a Federal Judge, and Adeleke, a Superintendent of Police, were soldiers of righteousness both in the open and in secret. They practice what they preach.

EXT. CHURCH CAR PARK – AFTER SERVICE
(Honking in the distance, congregants exchanging greetings, footsteps on gravel)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Handheld camera follows Adeleke as he walks calmly to his car.

ELDER PHILIP (approaching with a thick brown envelope):
Hello, Brother Adeleke. Please, concerning that customs officer case… we need your help. Just sign and dismiss the file. Take this — it's a small thing. A token of appreciation.

ADELEKE (stops, eyes stern):
Excuse me sir, with due respect, as a believer you shouldn't be having any sort of relationship with shady characters like that criminal Customs officer. Well, as for me, I want to make Heaven. I fear God and I can't help anyone pervert justice as a Police Officer.

CAMERA ANGLE:
Close-up of Adeleke's face — firm but respectful. He walks away slowly.

CAMERA FOLLOWS:
The elder sighs, looks around nervously, then tucks the envelope back into his bag.

INT. AMAKA’S OFFICE – MONDAY AFTERNOON
(Ticking wall clock, AC hum, subtle traffic noise beyond the window)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Amaka is seated at her desk, focused on a heavy case file. The door opens. Enter Barrister Tega, smiling too brightly, holding a fancy gift bag.

BARRISTER TEGA (cheerfully):
Good afternoon my Lord, I honour you for your sagacity. You are one of a kind. In fact, I told my client that you deserve something big from him. Here — this is just a little token from Chief Okon. Please kindly give him a favourable judgement after tomorrow’s final hearing.

CAMERA ZOOM-IN:
Amaka’s eyes narrow. She calmly shuts the file and looks up.

AMAKA (firm, no smile):
Hello Counsel, what’s the meaning of this? I am a judge, not a negotiator. Next time, report to court for your case, not my office.

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Amaka presses the phone button, her voice calm but commanding.

AMAKA (speaks into intercom):
Miss Ronke, please escort Barrister Tega out.

Barrister Tega freezes, embarrassed. The camera follows him as he walks out awkwardly.

MONTAGE SCENE

TRANSITION:
Slow cinematic crossfade from office scene.

INT. AMAKA’S BEDROOM – NIGHT
(Soft evening rain tapping window, faint distant thunder)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Medium shot of Amaka on her bed, Bible open, highlighter in hand.

Slow push-in on her face, calm but burdened with spiritual intensity.

(Soft instrumental plays – strings & piano)

INT. ADELEKE’S ROOM – SAME NIGHT
(Distant siren in the background, ticking wall clock)

CAMERA DIRECTION:
Candlelight flickers on Adeleke’s desk. He kneels beside his bed in prayer, eyes closed, whispering quietly.

Low angle shows his shadow cast on the wall behind — symbolic of strength and submission.

(Fade in ambient worship instrumental)

NARRATION V.O.:
In a world drowning in sinful acts, it is quite refreshing to see that there are true believers and followers of Jesus Christ who are standing against the tide in their areas of influence, no matter the price.
